With Bih Josopha having so many children, them being left all alone now is heartbreaking.

I was wondering if there was an acceptable way for you to forward a little money the older kids from a few of us that could offer $5, to help keep the family together.

I have 5 sons, and the oldest 2 have already said that they would take care of the 3 teens should anything happen to me. At the age of 20 and 23, they could do it if there was a little money to help. How much more so would it help Bih Josopha's children there?

Maybe Kiva could start a small program, whereas the loan is forgiven [as now], but we could also 'gift' the family 50 American dollars to help them through a little time while they revise their day to day living arrangements...

The sorrow of losing a loved one is deep, the financial loss of the family breadwinner only multiplies the stress. I realize we can't help everyone, but I can spare $5 here and there...

Maybe we can donate through our Paypal accounts if the Kiva money must be kept separate.

Please pass this on and let us know? I don't mind e-mail from Kiva- I look forward to it.

Dear Lucy,

Having been born in Africa myself, I would like to thank you for sharing and reporting this sad event in the most honest and simplistic way.

I am of an Indian Origin being 5th generation in Uganda. Inspite of the time spent in that country bby my family we had some but not enough understanding of the local culture. Speaking few languages and understanding their culture are two different things. I find that we have a lot to learn from this beautiful peoples.

Lucy, thank you for sharing that experience so eloquently. I hope to someday be in the mission field and I appreciate your example as to how to honor the cultures and customs of the people that you meet without making presumptions that our cultural "rituals" will fit theirs. Bless you for your grace.

Hey Lucy,
Thank you for this honest and sincere story! arriving to the field, we all come to realise the big and sometimes emotional things we will come across but you come across emotions we might not all have to deal with (fortunately!) i hope you are feeling ok with it and i wanted to let you know we support you from all corners in the world!
big hug Chantal
