thanks guys!

Sierra, it's so funny you mention your bat story..I had a similar thing happen in my apartment a few weeks before training. I caught the bat in a tupperware container, and the whole time that doctor was talking about rabies during training all I could think was, "oh god I touched that bat. I definitely touched that bat."
no rabies yet, so I think we'll both be okay...

You did well to get rid of the snake and still have the composure to grab your camera and get a great photo - I'd say you have all the makings of an excellent Kiva Fellow!

Hey there! What an entertaining post!

A year or so ago, I found a bat in the attic, and us 4 female roomates just about lost our cool. I ended up hitting it with a tennis racket, thinking "this is a great idea". I killed the bat, made a mess and totally regret the whole thing.

I didn't even think once about getting a rabies shot. A mistake that I will never make again after that health department portion of the training.....

Take the golashes. Just to be cool.

Sounds like you handled that pretty well. I'm glad you didn't just kill the snake out of hand as so many do. That said, I think the US has the least number of venomous snakes compared to the rest of the world so on the off chance you do run into one in Kenya assume it's venomous.
