In this picture you have painted for us, the whole atmosphere reminds me of a mother bringing up children by being consistent with the rules. It's quite possible that the women were resigned to the outcome because they are mothers themselves. It must have been so difficult for this group of women to be disappointed by one of their own. The role of a loan officer sounds like such a demanding job and you showed us how Mara tried her best to help within the confines of that job. And it must have been difficult for you, watching them leave, knowing that they had counted on this money to carry them through the next 3 months.
