I lived & worked in Azerbaijan from late 1993 to mid-1995 as a part of the International Red Cross. Six McDonald’s? good grief….

You are standing in former Ottoman Empire territory. The rules have not changed just because the West drew better maps. Tribalism, fiefdoms, ethnic clans, inner-city gangs….call it by whatever name makes you happy – there are different rules depending on where you stand.

For me, it wasn’t about getting upset over this. It simply was. If you want to affect any change at all (short or long-term) the rules will most likely always apply. Brace yourself for it and go do the best you can for those in need.
