I was born and raised in Benin (born in Bembereke but spent time in both Parakou and Cotonou) until my parents who were missionaries there moved back to Canada when I was 11. After reading this I am very homesick but I think its awesome what you are doing and keep up with the updates (I've bookmarked your blog). About the heat I can commiserate but if you go farther north in the country it is hot but not as humid as Cotonou. Will you be in Benin when rainy season hits? Thats by far my favourite season. Have you tried pounded yams yet? Coolie Coolies? Sorry Im gushing but reading this brought back so many good childhood memories. Anyways keep up the good work and keep posting updates.
